Is oatmeal good for me?

I will start by telling you that I want you to read labels on EVERYTHING from now on! Lets compare the popular (and might I add tasty) Quaker instant oatmeal that comes in a little packet full of flavor!
This doesn't seem so bad, 170 calories with only 2.5 grams of fat... Sugar is where they get ya! There are 14 grams of per packet! Refined sugar (this is a whole nother blog post but feel free to do your own homework on the topic) at that. You might be thinking...14 grams that's really not so bad is it? Perhaps, do you actually use only 1 packet? Or do you usually heat up 2-4? These packets are very tiny! Lets say you have 2 packets, now that's 28 grams of sugar in your not so healthy anymore breakfast. Or 3, that's 42 grams of sugar! Not to mention 340-510 calories!
Ok,'re right, I don't want that much sugar. But oatmeal is fiber friendly and a good source of carbohydrates...what should I eat
Rolled oats are my go to breakfast. With only 150 calories, 1 gram of sugar, 4 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of fat...I have a half cup every morning. First I boil water or unsweetened almond milk, measure out the oats, add one packet of stevia and some fresh fruit! #nomnom! This is a natural and healthy breakfast. Goes great along side my egg whites. Rolled oats are CircuitWorks approved ;)
